Iconic Danish Viking
For many people DAN DRYER has become synonymous with the classic white hand dryer with the iconic Danish Viking, which is easily recognisable in public and commercial restrooms all over the world. DAN DRYER has a long tradition of supplying long-lasting hand dryers and since the foundation of the company in the early 80s, we have reinvented our product range to become one of the most innovative suppliers of complete hygiene solutions in the world.
Our history
There are places we rarely talk about.
Yet they shape how we move through the world.
Public restrooms in airports, offices, stadiums and shopping centres.
They need to feel intuitive — and they need to work.
That’s where our story begins.
Back in 1980, Niels Saaby Jørgensen founded DAN DRYER as one of the very first manufacturers of electric hand dryers. The range was small — just the classic AA and AE models — but they set a standard for durability and reliability. They’re still found around the world today, doing exactly what they were designed to do.
Over time, our solutions became trusted by facility managers and operators who valued products built to last. Nearly four decades in, DAN DRYER had earned a unique place in the market — a specialist delivering hygiene solutions that simply works, day after day.
But spaces evolve. And expectations do too.
In 2013, Susanne Eden became Managing Director and set a new direction for the company. Functionality would remain essential — but design would take equal stage. Restrooms weren’t just technical spaces anymore; they were part of the architectural experience.
That shift led to a close design partnership with Danish design studio VE2. In 2015 BJÖRK product line was launched — a series where form and function finally spoke the same language. The hand dryer received the Red Dot Design Award the very same year, placing design firmly at the core of who we are.
In 2018, Susanne and Vagn Eden took over the company, marking the end of an era as founder Niels Saaby Jørgensen passed on his life’s work.
We still design for architects, for operators, for cleaners, and for users. That’s why our solutions are not just beautiful — they’re practical too. Designed to work for millions of people. Every single day.
That’s what we mean when we say: Designed to be used.
